Mindset: The Blueprint Behind Your Actions and Experiences

Hi Reader,

It's been getting chilly here, prepping me for my trip to France/Germany/Austria/Hungary in a few weeks to visit the Christmas Markets. I had to buy a winter coat for the trip ❄️.

With the days shorter and nights longer I find myself a little more reflective.

I definitely lean more toward optimism- I usually believe the universe has my back (and it does mostly😎 ). I was working on some of my research and thought it was a good time to look at mindset.

Your mindset is a unique collaboration of your thoughts, beliefs, and opinions, shaped by what’s been handed down to you, what you’ve learned through personal experiences, societal norms, and family influences.

It’s the invisible force steering your actions—or inactions—and shaping how you perceive and respond to life.

But mindset isn’t just mental. It’s also energetic.

Picture it as an energetic blueprint, an imprint of your current patterns of thinking and believing. When you try to shift a belief, opinion, or habit, that old energetic imprint doesn’t just disappear. It holds on, often pulling you back toward what’s familiar—the “path of least resistance,” like well-worn grooves in a road.

This is why real change isn’t always straightforward. Even when you consciously commit to something new, the energetic pattern of the old mindset can tug you back.

Addressing this energetic component is key to lasting change. Sometimes, even the smallest shift—one new thought, one different action—can create a ripple effect that transforms everything.

The Power of Your Thoughts

Your thoughts are more powerful than you might realize. For example, just thinking about biting into a warm, buttery lobster roll can make your mouth water, your stomach growl, and even trigger hormonal shifts in anticipation.

That’s not imaginary—that’s real, physiological change caused by thought.

Now imagine thinking about something else—a stressful situation, falling in love, or a worst-case scenario. Each of these thoughts can trigger a cascade of emotional, physical, and energetic responses. Your body doesn’t just listen to your thoughts; it responds to them, creating a full-body experience.

Thoughts and the Placebo Response

Thoughts are also at the heart of the placebo effect, a phenomenon in which belief alone can activate powerful healing responses in the body.

My research suggests this response taps into a centralized healing mechanism, showing just how deeply our minds and bodies are connected.

That said, thoughts alone aren’t the whole story. Sitting in a comfy chair thinking happy thoughts won’t magically change your life (though it might be a pleasant way to spend an afternoon).

Thoughts need action. It’s the combination of a clear intention, supportive beliefs, and meaningful action that creates real change and drives results.

By understanding and working with both your mindset and its energetic blueprint, you empower yourself to make deeper, more lasting changes.

Start small—a single thought, a tiny action—and watch how one shift can open the door to transformation.

If you have any recommendations for Paris or Budapest, I would love it if you hit reply and shared your tips with me.

Be Well,

Cathy

The Energy of You Volume XX Issue #23 Hi Reader, Amidst all the cookouts, parades, and fireworks I entered Logan International airport with tears streaming down my face. I checked two pieces of luggage and boarded a plane to take me three thousand miles away from everything and everyone I knew. That was thirteen years ago. The buildup to that move was long and bumpy. There was a fair amount of second-guessing myself, last-minute decisions by others that shifted the course, and some healthy...

The Energy of You Volume XX Issue #22 Hi Reader, I've been working on a course on longevity for women to start in the fall (click here if you want to be on the early notification list). It's been exciting to research, create and explore. There's so much potential in our bonus years. It also had me looking at what I teach, along with the integration and benefit of weaving energy healing into everyday life. Woven throughout my work both individually and in groups are various mind-body or...

The Energy of You Volume XX Issue #21 Hi Reader, I was at a writing retreat a couple of years ago when the instructor asked us to set an intention for the session. Each person shared a goal - edit two chapters, write five thousand words, clarify the theme and plot. When it was my turn I said “My goal is to have a fully fleshed outline, but my intention is to be open and curious as I tune into my deep well of knowledge.” This led to a lively conversation about goals, intentions, and...
